Training Camp Hype is Right on Schedule

On James Connor- "He's got a reputation that he doesn't back down from physical confrontation, and I wanted to give him an opportunity to confirm that on Day One," Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said of Conner in a Sunday interview with NFL Network's Ike Taylor. "He did in a lot of ways. He's a highly competitive guy, he showed some good technical things. Obviously, it's Day One, he's got a ways to go. His mental approach and demeanor is what we desire."

On Deshone Kizer- "He's grown each day," Britt told reporters Sunday. ... "I actually asked him yesterday, has the offense slowed down for him? He said 'Yes' and I was like, 'I can tell.' He's looking at certain things, he's seeing the defense before the snap count, and once he lines up he knows there's certain things he has to do. "He's going to be one of the great ones."

On Christian McCaffery- “He’s pretty unstoppable as far as coming out of the backfield running routes,” Stewart said, via Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer. “I can tell you now there’s not going to be anybody in this league that can cover him 1-on-1.”

On DeVante Parker- He's looked good in the early part of training camp, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports. Offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen expects Parker to have a big season, ESPN.com's James Walker reports. "I really think he'll have a great, big year -- a gigantic year for us," Christensen said of Parker

Mike Zimmer on Dalvin Cook- “[Cook] tries to make the most of every rep he gets,” Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur said, via Seifert. “You see him do a lot of things really well, and if he does make a mistake, he’s able to correct it and move on. That’s another sign of being a pro.

On Corey Davis- “I get excited about a whole lot of things we can do with Corey,” Titans offensive coordinator Terry Robiskie gushed about you after the practice. “He reminds me of – and it’s early, I don’t want to compare him to other people – but he just reminds me of good football players who have played the game and know how to play. You know, man, he’s just got that something that you don’t coach it; you don’t learn it. Those guys, they just know how to play the game.”

On Will Fuller- "He's had a good camp," coach Bill O'Brien said. "He's a really good route runner, comes to work every day. "A very studious guy, knows the playbook inside and out. Fun guy to coach."

Rob Marinelli on the rookies on the Cowboys defense- "Those guys have really good ball skills, really good awareness, good zone instincts back there, plus they have the speed to cover," Marinelli said. "I like their physical nature so far.

"We want to be a physical defense, and you can't do that if the corners don't hit."
