Fantasy Bounce Back Candidate

Todd Gurley

Last year was a dismal season for Rams running back Todd Gurley.

Two years ago while coming off a torn ACL he suffered at Georgia, Gurley still managed to rush for over 1,100 yards and 10 touchdowns and win rookie of the year.

Last year though, with expectations high, he hit a speed bump.

I, like a lot of fantasy owners, drafted Gurley high in our fantasy drafts (I drafted him with the No. 1 overall pick) with the expectations that he would not only replicate that performance, but improve on it.

Man, were we let down.

The Rams offensive line provided the holes for Gurley, but he just chose to deviate from the play calls at times. It was this kind of performance from Gurley that saw his rushing yards go from 1,106 and a Rams 7-9 record, to him rushing for a mere 885 yards and a 4-12 Rams record.

That brings us to 2017. The Rams have ZERO expectations and Gurley's name has gone so far under the radar that you almost forget that he was once a top 10 pick.

Jared Goff is in year two and the Rams offense has given him some weapons that should help in the passing game, thus alleviating some of the pressure from Gurley. Kenny Britt's departure will hurt some but not enough to slow down what I will call a bounce back season for Gurley.

The Rams will go as Gurley goes. Yes, that seems like a lot of pressure but again, nobody outside of Rams fans are talking about a bounce back season.

Expect him to go no later than the third round of all fantasy formats and he will reward you with another 1,000 yard season to go along with eight touchdowns.
