Why Tacko Fall Should Enter the NBA Draft

Selfishly, I want Tacko Fall to stay at UCF. He makes the team relevant and fun to watch. But unselfishly, I think he should jump into the NBA Draft.

Optimizing big man years is a key factor. I worry about the longevity of a guy like Tacko Fall who stands at 7'6. Plus, it's easy to sit on the outside and tell a kid who probably has little to no money to turn down the potential of a couple million bucks. Sure he could stand to make more if his draft stock increases in a year, but that's no guarantee. For many players, they need that extra year in college to really fortify their memorability with teams, but Fall is different. No one is forgetting about this guy, he's not going to get lost on some D-League roster, if he can play, he'll get moved up quicker than you can say his name. 7'6 isn't a quality or attribute often overlooked.

I mean no disrespect to Coach Dawkins but if he needs coaching, he should go somewhere where the best coaches exist. If he needs conditioning, he should go somewhere where he can train on focus on that without having to worry about passing his biology final. The NBA is ready for you big man, and I for one support the idea of Tacko Fall entering the NBA Draft.

Here are some of the best 2nd round picks in the history of the NBA:

  • Dennis Rodman
  • Danny Ainge
  • Draymond Green
  • Gilbert Arenas
  • Marc Gasol
  • Jeff Hornacek
  • Manu Ginobli
