UCF at one point was on a 25-game winning streak. They never cracked the top-5 or received any consideration for the four-team playoff. UCF AD Danny White explained his frustration with the playoff system, "I'm not going to waste any time trying to schedule for a four-team playoff because it's not a playoff, it's an invitational. It's not an adequate postseason."

There's also been a lot of speculation about UCF and how they are turning down 2-for-1s from teams like the Gators or any other marquee programs. Danny White set the record straight on that, "No, there's the rhetoric that was more of a public conversation. There was never any specifics."
