Thanks to you, the listener, we were able to narrow down the laundry list of Rob Hennigan errors down to 4. Without the hundreds of you who chimed in, I'm not sure Bianchi and I could have done it, there were just too many throughout the Hennigan Error..I mean, era, to comb through.
I firmly believe the 4 requested mistakes listed below are the correct 4. Of course we are leaving out: running Skiles out of town, trading JJ Redick, trading Tobias Harris, going with an all bigs lineup, and some of you even said - not getting enough back for Dwight. But again, I believe the 4 listed below are the final and best options.
The Dipo trade: Hennigan made the panic move of a lifetime, in an effort to save his job during the 2016 NBA Draft. Rob traded Oladipo and the 11th pick (Sabonis) for Serge Ibaka and Ersan Ilyasova.
Signing Bismack: Another boneheaded move. Not because Bizz is a terrible player, but because he's not worth the 18 million dollar a year average he gets paid. Just to put that annual number into perspective, that's what Paul George and Klay Thompson make.
The white board: Most GM's have a board in their office with upcoming free-agents, potential trade targets, and other strategic off season plans...but most GM's don't tweet out a picture of that board. Well, Rob did. After signing Patricio Garino, the photo taken had Hennigan's white board plans plastered as the back drop. Good stuff.
Drafting Mario Hezonja: The Magic were one spot away in 2015 from being able to land Kristaps Porzingis and that is no fault of Hennigan's. What is the fault of Hennigan was the pick the Magic selected, while other productive players were left on the board. After Hezonja was selected at 5, Justice Winslow, Myles Turner, and Devin Booker were all selected within the next 8 picks. All superior players to one, Super Mario.
