Sports Illustrated magazine has annually presented the Sportsperson of the Year award to "the athlete or team whose performance that year most embodies the spirit of sportsmanship and achievement." 

Well, we wanted to the same on Open Mike. But, since we are a local show, of course we're going to localize it. We're calling the award the - Open Mike Sportsman of the Year. The eligible candidates must have achieved some level of greatness on or off the field within state lines and within 2017 to win the award. 

In an effort to not leave names off, I created two polls that will run simultaneosly. In the 8 O'Clock hour LIVE on Open Mike (cheap plug) I will create a "finals"poll that will only include the winners from each of the two polls, that way, we can determine the one and true Open Mike Sportsman of the Year.
