Victor Wembanyama Shut Down for Remainder of Summer League

Victor Wembanyama has officially been shut down for the remainder of the 2023 NBA 2K24 Summer League.

In two games for the San Antonio Spurs, Wemby averaged 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 blocks in 27 minutes. We saw both spectrums for Wemby, finishing with 9 points on 2/13 from the field on Friday and 27 points on 9/14 from the field while grabbing 12 rebounds and getting to the charity stripe for 12 free throws on Sunday.

Stefan and I weighed in on what we can take away from his two appearances over the weekend on Monday on 'In The Zone'. Safe to say, we both jumped way too far into conclusions and expectations for the 19-year old. Check out who was more impressed by the No.1 pick, and who thinks the hype is through the roof for no reason.

Let this act as a reminder to all, let's not get too ahead of ourselves. Everything we see in Summer League can be taken with a grain of salt. You can't allow yourself to get too high or too low on a player based on their Summer League statistics - especially when it's only a 2 game sample. With that being said, there's no fault in getting excited about the young core and future stars of your franchise. It just may not be fair to give these kids the title of "bust" or "generational talent" too soon.

Catch 'In The Zone' Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. ET on 96.9 The Game. Miss the show? Go to the iHeartMedia app for daily highlights and full episode replays.
