Why is it So Hard to Name a Team in 2022?

After a long awaited reveal – the Washington Football Team officially has a name – and it sucks. Here’s the WFT telling you why they went with the Commanders.

Political correctness should not be an excuse for a lack of creativity. Yet, we see name after name come out with little to no imagination. Commanders...really?

Here’s the thing- I really don’t want to dislike the name. Its such an easy thing to do after a team changes their name or logo – we all instantly rush to social media to talk about how we hate it. I really hope Commanders grows on me, but I’m definitely not there yet.

I don’t get why these teams lack the imagination to come up with a name unique to that team/market. Commanders is a name you would find as an option in create-a-team in madden. It sounds like an XFL name. IN FACT: THE SAN ANTONIO TEAM WAS NAMED THE COMMANDERS.

I get changing from Redskins…but the one good thing about that name – you didn’t see it anywhere else. It was unique to them, and they had options.

Big fan group online- Hogs Haven…Red Hogs. Just Hogs. Both better.

Give me life, give me a flavor of your town, give me something that I wouldn't name a rec soccer team. Anything...other than Commanders.

In fairness, I do like their new jersey threads.
