Kravitz's Top 5 QB Replacements for Tom Brady in Tampa

Tuesday is a great day to churn out some rankings – this is the spot that was once allocated to my NFL MVP’s but with that out of the way – we have some open real estate and well…I like making rankings.

Today’s ranking: Top 5 replacements for Mr. Tom Brady in Tampa Bay.

Keeping it realistic only. I will not be entering fantasy land with this list. We’ve got Bucs fans out there clamoring for Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, and even the retired Andrew Luck.

5- Kyle Trask- I’ll go ahead and throw him on the list. He was a 2nd round pick for the Bucs last season, so its not like we’re talking about overcoming improbable (Brady-like) odds of getting on the field and being successful. Derek Carr was a round 2 pick, Kirk Cousins was a 4th round pick, Andy Dalton was round 2…so it does happen. His final year @ Florida he threw for over 4k yards, 43 touchdowns and just 8 picks. Finishing 4th in Heisman voting.

4- Mitch Trubisky- Time for a reclamation! Trubisky got a bad wrap, all he did was bring the Bears to the playoffs in his 2nd year with an 11-3 record as a starter. We’re talking about a former #2 overall pick that we’ve completely given up on. He spent a year behind Josh Allen and now he’s available on the open market. Could be worth a look.

3- Malik Willis- Liberty QB, I am enamored with this guy. Big strong arm, super mobile. He’s raw but we’ve seen raw come in and work. Plus, this would give the Bucs a dynamic that they haven’t had with the scheme they’re running right now – a mobile threat @ QB with the weapons they have. I think you can win now with this move…at least to some degree, and it sets you up for the future. Willis is projected to get drafted somewhere in the 20’s and the Bucs pick 27th.

2- Kirk Cousins- Don’t crap on this right away. In his first 120 starts, Cousins ranks 6th in passing touchdowns ALL-TIME with 219. He has some Kurt Warner in him and maybe he just needs a new environment to get over the hump, where it seems like Cousins never wins the big game. His asking price wouldn’t be too steep, you have to think the Vikings are ready for a fresh coat of paint. New GM, new coach, new QB. Time for a fresh start.

Number 1!- Jimmy Garoppolo- From one bay to the other. Look, if you want to be successful next season, you better bring in a guy who knows how to succeed. Jimmy G knows how to win, he’s a high-end game manager, and if you can find a way to bring back Godwin/Evans…find yourself a competent RB, you’re in the money. This team will be competitive next year and Jimmy G would lead them to an NFC South title at the very least.
