It came out today in a video Dillon Gabriel shared on his social channels that his "UCF journey has come to an end", shocking news to many as DG finishes his UCF career as one of the most productive QB's to ever play for the Knights.
I, for one, am not surprised. Gabriel is one of many college football players that will view the opportunity of the transfer portal to say the grass might be greener on the other side. And for someone like Gabriel, he won't be lacking in potential suitor. Gabriel entered this season widely considered a top 5 QB in the nation, top 10 at worst.
Of course his shoulder injury derailed what could've been a record setting season, but there will be numerous Power 5 programs that will be looking for a new QB. Ole Miss, Tennessee, and FSU are the first to come to mind. Either way, we'll have plenty of time to dissect that.
Fans...as you can imagine, had quite a mixed reaction. I shared some of the tweets I found on the topic of DG below.
