Should the Jags Go After Raheem Mostert?

The Jacksonville Jaguars currently have Leonard Fournette and Chris Thompson as their top two running backs. The team declined the fifth-year option on Fournette and only signed Thompson to a one-year deal which could leave the team very thin at the running back position after this season.

Raheem Mostert, who recently requested a trade out of San Francisco, would be a viable option for the Jaguars. He currently has two years left on a three-year deal he signed with the 49ers last season.

The Jags have over $20 million in cap space (Spotrac.com) and have two running backs who are both injury prone. They finished 17th in rushing last season despite career highs in rushing yards (1,152) and yards per rush (4.3) from Fournette. Reports also surfaced earlier during the offseason that the Jags were looking to trade Fournette.

The 49ers, already having traded Matt Breida to the Dolphins, very well could keep Mostert and give him a raise but should they look to move on from the New Smyrna Beach product, the Jaguars do make a lot of sense.
