Rays Take Opener From Guardians

The Tampa Bay Rays (72-75) defeated the Cleveland Guardians (84-63) 5-2 on Thursday night. With the win, the Rays snapped their losing skid at three games.

Brandon Lowe homered in the first inning to give the Rays an early lead. Cleveland took a 2-1 lead with single runs in the first and the second, but the Rays took the lead back in the fourth with two runs to make it 3-2. The Rays got insurance runs in both the eighth and ninth inning to clinch the 5-2 victory.

The Rays and Guardians now prepare to meet in the second game of the four-game series on Friday evening. First pitch Friday is scheduled for 7:10 PM - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting the Inside Pitch at 6:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
