Top Performers from Round 1 Day 1 of the NCAA Tournament

Before you get to the list of top performers, we have some housekeeping to do for a couple of the biggest stars in March Madness:

Big news for Houston last night- Marcus Sasser wound up playing in their opening round game vs Northern Kentucky…he left the game with a minute left in the 1st half…holding his groin on the sideline…not good.

Also- Brandon Miller scored 0 points yesterday in Bama’s win. He averages 19 per game. I guess he’s dealing with a groin injury too…not as severe…but he only played 20 minutes….they still won comfortably…but its something to monitor. Most of us have Bama going deep.

Our 2nd segment everyday on In The Zone usually highlights one player who stood out above the rest from the night before – our ‘in the zone player of the night’ --- but with so many games and so many top of the line performances…I figured we’d just give a bunch of dudes credit right here:

·Grady Dick- big time performance vs Howard – 19pts, 11boards, 3 steals – 3 of 5 from 3 point range.

·Sir' Jabari Rice, Texas – 7 of 10 from deep. 23 points. 20pt win over the Colgate raiders.

·Jamie Jacquez Jr. UCLA guard, 17pts, 8 rebounds, 5 steals – 86-53 over UNC Asheville

·Jeremy Roach was virtually un-guardable last night vs Oral Roberts- 23 points, paced all Duke players. 3 assists.

·Andrew Funk out of Penn State, the rain-man- 8 of 10 from 3 point range. 27 points, Penn State wins 76-59 over A&M.

·Johnni Broome, Auburn big man- 19pts, 12 rebounds, and 5 blocked shots! 83-75 over Iowa.

·Tozzi's boy- Boo Buie was electric for Northwestern, 22pts 5 boards, 5 dimes.

·Jalen Slawson 19pts 10 boards for the Furman Paladins.
