Top 5 Sneaky Storylines Heading Into Week 4 of the NFL

With this being the last show I do all week on this station, in part because of a pre-NBA season vacation I was planning on taking, and another part a category 3 hurricane bearing down on us…My top 5 this week tackles a subject that we had reserved for Friday’s…Sneaky Storylines in the NFL.

Top 5 Sneaky Storylines Heading Into Week 4 of the NFL

5- Seahawks @ Lions- I have not yet seen the stat out there, but its coming. The Lions are 4.5 point favorites vs Seattle…can you recall the last time the Lions were 4.5 point favorites? 2 weeks ago against Washington, it was the first time the Lions were favored in 20 games. I went back to that game, it was in week 11 of the 2020 season. But, they were only 2 point favorites. So I think you’d have to go back a ways. The Lions are sort of back. 1-2 but back.

4- Jets @ Steelers- I don’t know how often this has happened. But we’ll have a rare matchup of 2 former #2 overall picks in the NFL draft squaring off when Mitch Trubisky battles with the returning Zach Wilson. Mitch the #2 pick in 2017 and Wilson the #2 pick in 2021. Also, a rematch of the 2011 AFC title game for what its worth.

3- Bills @ Ravens- Allen vs Lamar, that’s not sneaky. What’s sneaky is that these are the 2 best QB’s from the 2018 draft, so history will always tie them together. Allen was taken 7th, Lamar 32nd, and both have been phenomenal. Certainly better than Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, and Josh Rosen…One has an MVP, the other is the favorite to win the SB.

2- Chiefs @ Bucs- Super Bowl 55 rematch- Bucs dominated that game 31-9. Now Mahomes gets his opportunity @ payback. This will be the first time these 2 teams play since that Super Bowl. And its on Sunday Night Football, assuming the game doesn’t get moved or canceled.

Number 1! Jags @ Eagles- The Doug Pederson Bowl. Doug spent 5 seasons with the Eagles before getting canned by the team. Helped the team win their lone Super Bowl…and while I disagreed with the firing, you can’t deny that its worked for the Eagles. On the flip side, it looks like a good match for Jacksonville too, so we’ll see who gets the best of that matchup this Sunday.
