Kevin Cash is getting roasted this morning because he took out a guy who had nine strikeouts in five innings. He took out a stud. He took out a guy who was H-O-T HOT! Once Blake Snell was out, it was all over for the Rays, but should Kevin Cash really be blamed?
The thing that brought the Rays to the World Series, the thing that had them beating high pay roll teams like the Yankees, was their ability to use analytics. It's moneyball and sometimes, it just doesn't work out. This was one of those instances.
The numbers were in favor of Kevin Cash pulling Snell out of the game, but the eye test obviously told you something different.
So it goes. Congrats to the Dodgers, but this one hurts.
