It seems like there's been a lot more signings just before the start of the upcoming NFL season.
Guys like Patrick Mahomes, Deshaun Watson, DeAndre Hopkins, Budda Baker, and Myles Garrett have all signed massive extensions with their teams well after free agency and that doesn't even cover half of the extensions that we have seen just before the start of the season. There's still potentially more to get done too.
Mike Ginnitti explains why, "It is more than usual, it's no question. It's a product of the cap drop where teams are just trying to get creative and get ready for next year and what is essentially going to become a cap situation for more than half the teams. With these extensions also comes with a lot of cap manipulation."
