Baseball in 2020: 0 Official At-Bats, 1 Run Scored

Welcome to baseball in 2020, folks.

The Kansas City Royals defeated the Cleveland Indians 3-2 on Saturday in 10 innings. The new rule for this season has a runner starting out on second base. During the top of the 10th inning, the Royals inning went like this: ghost runner on second, sac bunt, sac fly, walk, runner caught stealing. So no official at-bats but still managed to plate the game-winning run.

The new rule has at least one player upset. Cleveland's Mike Clevinger sounded off after the game calling it the "whackest s**t" he's ever seen.

I understand why the rule is in place but I also agree with Clevinger. The rule is terrible and I hope it doesn't last past this season.
