Kyrie Irving has been a headache for every organization he's ever played for, but he's one of the most talented scoring guards you'll ever see and he has just requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets, ahead of the February 9th trade deadline. Despite the Nets being in Playoff position, Irving is most likely pulling this charade because he has not received the contract extension that he's looking for and is ultimately giving Brooklyn a chance to cash in before losing him in the offseason with nothing in return. I wonder how Kevin Durant is feeling right about now.
Shams Charania of The Athletic has reported that the Lakers, Mavericks, and Suns have emerged as potential suitors for the star guard. I'd be surprised if he didn't end up with one of those teams, but the Magic would honestly have the most to offer if they so desired, especially if he was ever willing to sign an extension with them.
Knowing how Magic ownership and the front office rolls, this is completely far fetched to even bring up, but we'd be talking about the biggest ball-handling star to play in Orlando since Tracy McGrady. Kravitz and I react to the breaking news in the podcast clip below.
