Emergency responders rushed to the waters of Biscayne Bay after reports of a helicopter going down Wednesday, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue. Two passengers and the pilot were on board -- there is one person still missing, and believed dead.
In a statement, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said crews were responding to reports of “a helicopter down” and that details remained limited as first responders worked to assess the situation.
Witnesses and boaters in the vicinity were urged to avoid the area to allow emergency operations to proceed safely.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation. Officials have not yet confirmed the condition of any occupants, or whether additional rescue resources were being deployed.
