The Boston Red Sox (48-48) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (56-40) twice on Friday in both games of a day-night doubleheader at Fenway Park. The Rays are fourteen games over .500 after dropping the first two games out of the All-Star Break.
Boston won the first game in a blowout, by a final score of 10-0, thanks in large part to a six-run sixth inning that turned the game into a blowout. Jake Bennett pitched six shutout innings for Boston, before Alec Gamboa pitched the final three innings to complete the shutout in game one.
In the second game, Wilyer Abreu hit two home runs to power the Red Sox offense that came away with a 5-3 win.
The Rays will look to bounce back in the third game of the series coming up on Saturday afternoon. First pitch Saturday is scheduled for 4:10 PM - Chris Adams-Wall begins pregame coverage at 3:30 PM on 95.7 WDAE & AM 620, your Home of Rays Baseball.
