Four days, 48 games, and enough tears and cheers for a lifetime later, we have our final 16 remaining in the 2024 March Madness tournament. The opening round of the tournament certainly didn't disappoint. No. 14 seed Oakland quickly emerged as tournament darlings, taking down the No. 3 seed Kentucky behind a 32-point outing from Jack Gohlke.
However, once the dust settled from some upsets and overtime affairs, the Round fo 32 left something to be desired for some fans. Favorites finished 15-1 between Saturday and Sunday, resulting in very few Cinderella stories to root for. For just the 5th time since the field expanded to 64, ever No. 1 seed and No. 2 seed has advanced to the Sweet 16, and NC State stands as the only double-digit seed remaining.
With that being said, does that mean this isn't an enjoyable March Madness tournament? Or is it promising that we have the best teams facing off in the best time of the year? Brandon and I slightly disagree and discussed it earlier today on In The Zone. Check out the podcast linked below for a full recap of the opening rounds of March Madness.
