I watched a lot of bad football this weekend so that I could deliver some gems to you this week. We had a lot of guys that didn't play, names that you would expect, and then others that told a story we may not have known already. Below, I listed the names of the players that really caught my eye this weekend in the NFL!
Preseason risers week 2:
· Tank Bigsby, Jags- 13 carries 70 yards – looks the part of an every down back and might even be better between the tackles than Travis Etienne. Keep in mind, this current regime drafted Bigsby in round 3, they weren't here for the Etienne pick, so they don't have the same attachment to him.
·Salvon Ahmed, Dolphins- 8 YPC, 131 total yards…a monster 65 yard run. Who needs Dalvin? He looked good – and he’s better than Devon Achane, at least for now. Camp reports over the last month have been telling the same story.
·Tank Dell, Texans- Didn’t even play! Maybe an injury, maybe keeping him on ice...I’m telling you…he’s going to be a stud. And by all accounts, he was ROASTING Phins defenders in practice last week.
· Jaylen Warren, Steelers- Najee Harris, who? This dude's got wheels, something Harris is severly lacking. Warren isn't going to give you the same amazing stiff arms, but he'll be a stud if called upon and might even return some stand alone value in an offense that should be more up-tempo this year.
·Rashee Rice, Chiefs- I saw him in with a bunch of different units, this tells me he isn't solidified in the ever evolving pecking order of Chiefs receivers. But what's not to like? They used him in the run game, intermediate passes, deep balls – Andy Reid values versatility, he’s got it. 8 catches for 96 yards this weekend. Stat line of things to come?
·Tyjae Spears, Titans- He's the handcuff we’re not talking about enough. Fast, elusive, stronger than he looks – 7 carries for 57 yards, a beauty of a 33 yard scamper into the end zone…(highlight below)
·Juwan Johnson, Saints- Held out with the other starters. Tells you how much Dennis Allen values him right there...
