Tuesday rankings time! This week I have my mind locked on the plethora of great running back tandems across the NFL. Now, to be specific about how I’m going about this list…this isn’t based on name value alone, you have to be producing right now, causing panic and/or anxiety for opposing defensive coordinators…Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams have been disqualified because of Williams injury, and the same could be said for the Seattle guys. Here it is:
Top 5 Most Dangerous RB Tandems in the NFL Today
5- Dalvin Cook & Alexander Mattison- Cook does most of the heavy lifting but I see both guys get their fair share of work and both help out in the pass game as well. Last 3 weeks, at least one of these two guys has popped it into the end zone for the Vikings.
4- Alvin Kamara & Taysom Hill- I don’t care that Hill is listed as a TE, he doesn’t do a single things that TE’s do. The dude is a running back. Last week, Hill carried the ball 9 times for 112 yards and 4 touchdowns. And what’s lost in all of this Taysom Hill excitement is that Kamara rushed for over 100 yards last weekend too.
3- Ezekiel Elliot & Tony Pollard- Major thunder and lightning vibes here. Zeke between the tackles isn’t explosive but he’s the better runner. Pollard on the other hand is a big play waiting to happen. Pollard has plays of 57, 46, and 46 yards on the season already. Dangerous combo.
2- Damien Harris & Rhamondre Stevenson- Harris is a little dinged up right now but these 2 are absolutely balling right now. After last week, Stevenson cracked the top 12 among all RB’s in terms of rush yards and Harris is top 10 in TD’s. The fact that the Pats are 2-3 is a credit to their defense, Bill, and these 2 guys.
Number 1! Nick Chubb & Kareem Hunt- I mean, come on. Is it even close? Chubb looks like the best back in football right now and Hunt could start on probably 50% of the teams in the NFL. Not really fair. 840 rush yards between the 2 already this season.
*Aaron Jones/AJ Dillon have been left off the list because of their collective lack of production and DeAndre Swift’s current injuries disqualified the Lions tandem, but both of these units probably rank top 5 by the end of the season.
