The 22-year-old phenom that is Juan Soto of the Washington Nationals has an OPS of over 1.000 and has an OBP of .471! These are astronomical numbers. What Soto has already been able to accomplish in four big league seasons is somewhat unprecedented. He still has three years of arbitration left before he could hit the open market and become a free agent. It has become fashionable for MLB franchises to buy out arbitration years and sign their young studs to a long term contract like what the San Diego Padres did with Fernando Tatis Jr (14 years, $340 Million.)
