While the rest of the AL East will battle it out for the Wildcard, the Rays are primed to lead the American League in wins and clinch homefield advantage throughout the postseason. Prior to the season, the Yankees were favored to win the division and now, here are the Rays leading the American League East by 6.0 games over Boston and are 8.0 games above New York with 9 to play.
As of now, the one game Wildcard matchup would feature the Yankees at the Red Sox but the Blue Jays trail the Yanks by just 1 game. If the Yankees want in, they'll have to get through Boston, Toronto, and these Tampa Bay Rays in their last 9 games.
