You’ve got the Espy’s, the Mikey’s, the Grammy’s, and Orlando’s favorite preseason football award show…the Footballies! Doing things backwards here…since we are master prognosticators…Stefan and I will each nominate 1 player or team for the following awards:
BRANDON'S AWARDS:
Coach of the Year- Bill Belichick. 3x winner. Hasn’t won since 2010.
Most likely to get fired- Kliff Kingsbury
Rushing title- Nick Chubb (7th last year in 12 games. Was 3rd in YPG)
Bounce back team of the year- San Fran- major injuries last year, 6-10 record. Vegas has them with the 4th shortest odds to win the Super Bowl.
Bounce back player of the year- Christian McCaffrey (would go with Dak but his shoulder seems to be an issue now. Only 3 games played in 2020. In 2019, let me remind you. He had 1300 yards rushing, over 1k receiving, and account for 43% of his teams offense, the highest percentage in NFL history)
From impress to regress (the team that will take a big step back)- Buffalo Bills
Play action fake (the team that will start hot and finish soft)- Jacksonville. Really soft schedule the first 6 weeks, then after their bye, it’s a gauntlet.
The “Accountant” (boring team that still wins a bunch)- Washington
Sack master (who records the most sacks)- Myles Garrett (Watchout for Chase Young)
Touchdown vulture (skill position player with the most TD’s)- Jonathan Taylor. I just don’t know who else scores on that team. (12 last year as a rookie)
Rookie of the Year- Trevor Lawrence
MVP- Lamar Jackson
STEFAN'S AWARDS:
Coach of the Year- Sean Payton or Kyle Shannehan
Most likely to get fired- Mike Zimmer (Vikings) Matt Nagy (Bears)
Rushing title- Jonathan Taylor (QB is out and seriously hurt and will be relied on)
Bounce back team of the year- Raiders
Bounce back player of the year- Antonio Brown (Bucs)
From impress to regress (the team that will take a big step back)- KC Chiefs
Play action fake (the team that will start hot and finish soft)- Packers
The “Accountant” (boring team that still wins a bunch)- Steelers
Sack master (who records the most sacks)- Chandler Jones (Cardinals schedule allows it)
Touchdown vulture (skill position player with the most TD’s)- Mike Evans (Bucs)
Rookie of the Year- Trey Lance
MVP- Dak Prescott
