During Saturday's Sports Overload, The Seminoles Became Champions

Seminole High won the 8A State Championship while we were all distracted.

We had SOOO many sports to watch this weekend that we may have overlooked the Champs in our own backyard. Yup Central Florida crowned some champions this weekend.

Saturday was a super busy sports day. I found myself flipping my remote like it was 1995. While Ohio State was squeezing their way into the college football playoff and Oklahoma was beating Iowa State, the Seminole High School Seminoles (seriously guys, you named the mascot and the school the same thing?) topped off an undefeated season and won the 8A State Championship.

And it wasn't even close. The Seminole jumped out to an early lead over Osceola High and never looked back. I watched the game. it was a drubbing! In fact, I caught myself regularly having to remember to flip back to the Ohio State game to see what was happening.

But the craziest part, and possibly most unbelievable act of strength I've seen this year, was hours before kickoff, senior safety Delvin Ingram Jr.'s mom passed away. And he still played in the game. A game instantly dedicated to his mother.

"Every play, every second of the game... I felt my mama was with me the whole time." said Ingram after securing the Championship.

Not only did a school in Sanford become champions on Saturday, but this young man showed who and what a champion truly is.

Congrats Seminole.

And Delvin, our hearts are with you.
