Waiver Wire Week 12:
Well, it took us 12 weeks, but things have officially gone bonkers in the NFL and particularly in the world of fantasy. A lot to breakdown and a lot of different options to choose from. Let’s go!
QB:
Ryan Fitzpatrick- Tua is out with a thumb injury and FitzMagic is back to steal the show. Not only was Fitzy on a streak of 4 games with 20 or more fantasy points before getting benched mid-season, but he also gets to take on the Jets! Golden matchup, plug him in with confidence.
Phillip Rivers- Sooo, the old man is low-key balling out the last few weeks. He got off to a really slow start but the last 5 weeks, 21 points or more in 4 of them. He gets the Titans this week, he scored 21 against them just a couple weeks ago, and if you need him longer term…they get the Packers, Raiders, and Texans in consecutive weeks.
RB:
Brian Hill- Todd Gurley out this week with a knee injury (and could be out longer). Hill takes on the Raiders who are bottom 4 in the league against opposing RB’s.
Justice Hill- Another Hill, Justice should be running alongside Gus Edwards on Tues. night, and chances are he’ll be the primary passing downs back. That’s not Edwards forte, and we assume the Steelers will be ahead most of the game. Don’t be surprised if he finishes with more points than Edwards (if the game is played).
Benny Snell- He’s probably the best of this bunch. Snell worked as the goalline back last week for the Steelers, and did so effectively. Now he’s set to get the Lions-share of the work alongside Anthony McFarland. Snell already had a blowup game that sent fantasy owners sprinting to the waiver wire back in week 1, so we know he has it in him.
WR:
Kendall Hinton- Here’s a name I didn’t think I’d be saying at any point in the season. Just goes to show what happens when the unpredictability of fantasy football meets the unpredictability of 2020. Hinton is set to play QB for the Broncos with all 4 of their QB’s on the COVID list. Hinton played quarterback at Wake Forest for four seasons before switching to wide receiver during his senior year. His freshman season included a 52.5% completion rate while throwing four touchdowns and five interceptions.
Denzel Mims- 10 ppr points in the last 2 games and at least 7 targets in the last 2. Sam Darnold is back for the Jets as well.
TE-
Will Dissly- This is a name that was emerging in the fantasy world early last season before he went down with a season ending injury. Now, he’s back and Greg Olsen is being sent to the IR. Wilson, like most QB’s, loves his TE. Great pickup at a tough position to figure out at this stage in the season.
DST:
Packers- I’ll take any defense that gets to go up against Mitch Trubisky in prime-time. Don’t overthink this one.
