Locks of the Week
Record last week: 0-4.
On the year: 10-15
Let’s turn this thing around like Bonnie Taylor (total eclipse reference)
1.Florida vs Georgia (-3.5) live from TIAA Bank
a.That feels like a lot of points for Georgia to give up when their offense is so blah and average. Stetson Bennett is ok, but nothing special. 55% of the bets are coming in on the Gators and I completely get why…people like betting on QB’s…but lucky for you, my memory is a steel trap. Georgia has 3 RB’s they use frequently, all averaging over 4.5 yards per carry, and you know what Florida can’t do? Stop the run. Florida has to score early if they want to win this game, and that’s not easy to do against the top defense in the SEC. Remember, this team held Auburn to just 6 points a couple weeks ago. Florida fails to climb over the mountain once again, GA wins their 4th straight vs the Gators…and we’ll swallow the points in the process.
2.Ravens (-1.5) @ Colts
a.Are you kidding? No seriously, is this line real? Phillip Rivers and the Colts just put up 41 points on the Lions and the Ravens are coming off a loss…over reaction city! Give me Baltimore all day. Both teams come in at 5-2, so on the surface, this looks like an even matchup, it’s not. The Colts have had the easiest schedule in the NFL thus far according to PFF. Maybe outside of linebacker and o-line now that Ronnie Stanley is out, the Ravens are better at just about everything else on the football field…and they’re coming off a loss. Lamar Jackson’s not losing 2 straight, and Rivers won’t be able to avoid the Ravens blitz…take the birds -1.5
3.Clemson @ Notre Dame (+5)
a.Easy money, DJ Uiagalelei not ready for this spot, he was barely ready for Boston College, and if BC hadn’t looked in the mirror at halftime and realized who they were…they would’ve won that game. Notre Dame has a far superior defense and a QB who won’t turn the ball over. Ian Book 7 touchdowns, 1 INT on the season. Notre Dame not only covers the 5, they win the game, but we’ll take the points for safe measure.
4.Seahawks @ Bills (+3)
a.The Bills wreak like one of those, ‘play to the level of your competition’ teams. Sleep walk through the Jets game, allow the Pats to hang around, get into a shootout with the Rams…look, I’m not a believer in Buffalo, but this is a much bigger game for them than it is for Seattle. This is like their super bowl, and as great as Russell Wilson is, trees don’t grow to the sky…at some point this guy is going to have an off game…if it turns into a shootout, Buffalo can hang…67% of the bets are on seattle, the biggest public percentage college or pro…buyer beware if you are betting the seahawks…it’s a sucker bet. And we are not suckers! Take the Bills, home dawgs, plus 3.
Good luck!
