Waiver Wire Week 8:
Hey, it’s you again. Glad you came, here we are in the home stretch of the fantasy season, and now is no time to start ignoring the wire! Let’s get after it.
QB:
Tua Tagovailoa- Guess what time it is?! This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for. And I actually think he makes for a good pick up today as well. The matchup isn’t ideal, with Aaron Donald chasing him down on every dropback. However, here’s what I do like. 1) He’s had 2 weeks to prepare and the Rams are on a short week, flying cross-country. 2) Ryan Fitzpatrick had scored 20+ fantasy points in 4 straight weeks in this offense. 3) Look @ what the other top 10 QB rookies have been doing!. 4) After this week, the schedule really lightens up for Tua and the Phins. Take the plunge.
RB:
Wayne Gallman- With Devonta Freeman announced as ‘out’, Gallman should be the recipient of about 15 touches. It won’t be pretty against a stingy Bucs defense, but if you’re desperate…
Tevin Coleman- The 49ers have activated Coleman after missing weeks with a knee injury. Now, there’s no guarantee he’ll have a role, but, in a crowded backfield, it’s conceivable to think he’s the best of the bunch.
Dart throw: Eno Benjiman- Kliff Kingsbury insists the Cardinals run game will be a committee approach as its been in the past. Of course, Edmonds is the one you want, and Murray is the best RB on the team...but if they do go committee, Benjiman would be next man up in that role that was previously going to Edmonds.
WR:
Denzel Mims- A Jets player?! Gross, right? Not really, Mims saw a 26% share of the targets last week for the Jets in his debut game, he’s 6’3 215, and get this, Jamison Crowder is doubtful, Breshad Perriman is out entirely. Mims has all the targets to himself, in a game where the Jets are 20-point underdogs…so yeah, they’re going to be throwing early and often.
Dart throw: Jalen Guyton- Herbert doesn’t target this guy often, but when he does, it’s deep down the field! Boom or bust for sure, but if he booms, you’ll be glad you started him. The list of WR’s in the NFL with at least 3 40-plus yard catches this season…Henry Ruggs – and – you guessed it, Jalen Guyton.
TE:
Harrison Bryant- I think people might have been hesitant to scoop him up after his blow up game this past weekend, it felt fluky as could be. Austin Hooper still remains out, recovering from an appendectomy, and Bryant actually saw more snaps than former 1st round pick, David Njoku last week. Don’t expect another 5-56-2 game, but he should be one of Baker Mayfield’s go-to targets today against an average Raiders defense.
Gerald Everett- The Dolphins are going to have their hands full in their secondary trying to contain Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp, and co. Higbee is unlikely to play, making sure-handed Gerald Everett a decent play if he’s out there.
Check and see: Dallas Godert is expected back from IR tonight for the Philadelphia Eagles. If he’s out there, grab him!
DST:
Lions- Let’s throw some love the way of the Lions, no sure-thing, but they’ve been at least startable the last 4 games, and you never quite know when Phillip Rivers is going to have an INT parade. Might be a trick, might be a treat, worth a shot if you need it.
