The XFL Has a New Owner

On April 13th, the XFL declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy and since then, have been trying to sell the league. That wish has finally been granted as Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, along with his investors (including ex-wife Dany Garcia) and RedBird Capital Partners shelled out $15 million to buy the league that has failed twice after just one season.

The Rock stated his 'passion for the game' and 'desire to always take care of the fans' as reasons why this investment means so much to him.

As of now, there's no date as to when The Rock & Co. plan on reviving the XFL.

In 2001, the league folded after just one season and earlier this year, the coronavirus pandemic put a halt to play after just five games before folding up.
