College GameDay was in Ames, Iowa ahead of the Iowa Vs. Iowa State matchup. There's always all sorts of funny signs and friendly jabs that fans like to throw up to try and make it on TV.
Well one Iowa State student, Carson King, held up a sign that said, "Busch Light Supply Needs Replenished" along with his Venmo information. You typically don't expect to get a lot of money doing something like that, maybe a few bucks here and there but Carson hit big.
In less than a half hour, he had over $400 in his Venmo account and the number was only rising. He went on to say, "After I got $600 I thought, 'There are better things I can do with this.'" And sure enough, he did.
As of Tuesday evening, Carson King had over $20,000. Of course, he did spend some money on his case of Busch Light, but the rest of the money went to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital. This is the hospital next to Iowa's Kinnick Stadium where fans turn to for the "Iowa Wave" after the first quarter of each home game.
The donations didn't stop there. Busch Light took notice as to what Carson was doing and decided to chip in as well.
But wait, there's more.
All in all, nearly $60,000 was raised and King said he plans to keep on taking donations until the end of the month.
Signs can be a funny thing. They can also lead to great stories like this one.
