Fans of the professional basketball team, the Miami Heat may want to learn how to use incognito mode on their browser after a porn site said it wanted to purchase the naming rights to the arena the basketball team uses as its home after the current deal with American Airlines expires in 2020.
After American Airlines declined to renew their deal last year, a bidding war has begun heating up as companies nail the naming rights for the American Airlines Arena (the AAA), one company you may not expect has stepped up to offer $10 million to rename the arena. BangBros, a Miami-based adult entertainment website tweeted on Thursday they'd submitted a multi-million dollar bid to officially rename The AAA to the BangBros Center, or The BBC for the next ten years.
"Miami is known for many things - South Beach, beautiful women, and sports teams like the professional NBC team the Miami Heat," the porn site wrote in a statement announcing the bid. "Miami is also known for BangBros. So it makes sense to pair up winning programs like the Miami Heat and BangBros for a sponsorship opportunity, naming the home arena they play in."
"To show how serious BangBros is, they have already offered $10 million to Myles Gallagher of Cleveland's Superlative Group, and are suggesting the name BangBros Center (The BBC) as the new home of the Miami Heat for the next decade. BangBros also already owns the domain bangbroscenter.com to partner up and broadcast, promote, market, and help take the Heat from out of the 305 to Worldwide," the porn site wrote in a release.
The porn site has even created a dedicated site to lobby for its renaming bid (don't worry, the link is safe for work).
As amusing as it would be to hear sports announcers talk about basketball games being played at the BBC, BangBros probably doesn't have a very good shot at winning the naming rights. For one, the naming rights to the arena for the next decade are worth about three times what American Airlines was paying ($2 million a year), which is far more than the $1 million per year the porn site is offering, the group handling the transaction told the Miami Herald last year.
