Why No Percy?
Per the Florida Times-Union:
Florida will induct Tebow into the program’s Ring of Honor, making him the sixth player with his name prominently and permanently displayed inside the Swamp.
The 22nd-ranked Gators (4-1, 2-1 Southeastern Conference) will celebrate Tebow at the end of the first quarter of Saturday’s game against LSU (5-0, 2-0). At halftime, they will honor the 2008 national championship team that featured Tebow, receiver Percy Harvin, cornerback Joe Haden, linebacker Brandon Spikes and defensive end Carlos Dunlap.
So, we ask, why isn't Percy Harvin being added to the Ring of Honor as well? Was he not just as pivotal a player on those Gators championship teams? You could argue that while he wasn't as popular as Tebow, he was actually more important to their product/success on the field. In 2008 alone, Harvin accounted for 27 touchdowns, 1,964 scrimmage yards, and that doesn't include his damage as a kick returner.
The argument against it, there are only 6 names in the Ring of Honor, so it's only reserved for the most important Gators of all-time...(Enshrined: Wilber Marshall, Emmitt Smith, Steve Spurrier, Danny Weurffel, Jack Youngblood, Tim Tebow)
The question is, is Harvin one of them?
