MEYER ON THE OUTS @ OHIO STATE
Ohio State University has announced that Urban Meyer has been placed on administrative leave with pay while the investigation into what he knew about assistant coach Zach Smith proceeds. For more context on the story read here: URBAN MEYER IS A LIAR.
It is interesting that Meyer received a pay raise this offseason, and new language in his contract that states:
To the section covering reasons for termination for cause, a provision was added that states Meyer’s contract can be terminated if he fails to promptly report to the university’s deputy Title IX coordinator-athletics or the university’s Title IX coordinator "any known violations of Ohio State’s Sexual Misconduct Policy (including, but not limited to, sexual harassment, sexual assault, sexual exploitation, intimate violence and stalking) that involve any student, faculty, or staff that is in connection with a university-sponsored activity or event."
This new provision also states that: "It is recognized that this subsection" pertaining to grounds under which Meyer can be terminated for cause "encompasses findings or determinations of violations during employment of Coach at Ohio State or any other institution of higher learning." Does that mean it's tougher for them to fire Meyer instantly because some of these allegations stem from his time with Zach Smith @ Florida? We'll see, it is interesting, but Vegas seems to think it's a lock that he either gets fired or resigns before the season, check it out:
According to a Vegas sports book: Will Meyer be fired before week 1?
Yes -200 No +160
Will he resign? Yes -150 No +120
We will see. Till then, Bianchi is going to have a field day with this one.
