LeBron Left The Cleveland Cavaliers To Get Away From Dan Gilbert

Colin Cowherd reacts to an interview from The Athletic with LeBron James that details when things fell apart for James and the Cleveland Cavaliers and led to him leaving town to join the Los Angeles Lakers.

Excerpt from The Athletic:

The day the Cavaliers agreed to trade Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics, LeBron James was signing jerseys for Upper Deck in Santa Monica, California. When then-coach Tyronn Lue, also in California at the time, found out what was about to happen, he drove out to see James and put him on the phone with Cavs general manager Koby Altman. James was adamant on the call — do not trade Irving, especially to the Celtics.

Despite being assured by Altman that the trade wasn't happening, we all know the result. Cavaliers and Celtics swapped several pieces sending Kyrie Irving away, and LeBron was not pleased about it at all.

LeBron's feelings when that happened:

“Everyone knows that when Kyrie got traded it was the beginning of the end for everything. It’s not a secret.”

Colin Cowherd reacts to this and explains why Dan Gilbert's treatment of LeBron James over these past years has put the Cleveland Cavaliers in an awkward position.
