The Netflix Original series ‘Quarterback’ was released on Netflix exactly two weeks ago today. It's been a massive hit, rising to the ‘Top TV Shows in the U.S. today’ list where it still remains as No. 3. It has sports fans riled up for the beginning of football season as we creep closer to the end of the dog days of summer.
Today, reports emerged that the series has been renewed for a new season that is expected to release next August.
To recap the show for anyone who is unfamiliar, NFL QB’s Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota allowed a camera crew inside access to their lives all last season. Along with the plethora of footage on the field from practices and games, these cameras were given time inside of these athletes' homes, highlighting their personal lives. Season one also was special due to the fact that it followed the QB who would lead his team to the Super Bowl and is a generational talent at the position in Mahomes.
Despite the success of the debut of the series, Netflix is having trouble finding the next quarterbacks to carry the torch. Reports have emerged that numerous QB’s across the league have rejected the offer to be a part of the show at some point in time.
Jalen Hurts, Justin Fields, Tua Tagovailoa, Sam Howell and Matthew Stafford have all reportedly declined the offer either for season one or two.
Why is this? Myself and Brandon Kravitz gave our thoughts on that during ‘T-Time’ today on ‘In The Zone’. Check it out below. Also, tune in to 96.9 The Game tomorrow from 3-6 p.m. EST to hear who Brandon and I think should headline the series as the all-access quarterbacks.
