Former Florida State great Deion Sanders and new FSU coach Willie Taggart are exploring the idea of Sanders joining Taggart's staff in Tallahassee, according to Noles-247Sports.
He even talked about it on the sideline of the Independence Bowl vs Souther Miss saying "You never know. I've been known to make big plays with these colors on," he said with a laugh. "That's all I'm going to say." This sounds somewhere between too good to be true and complete desperation.
Sure, Deion returning to the Seminoles sideline would be exciting. It is something that would get the fans pumped up and I think it'd be great for recruiting. But, at the same time, do you really want your DB's coach being the "show"? Would Willie Taggart really want to be overshadowed by an assistant? Maybe he can do what most coaches can't, put his ego to the side.
But then there's this, what are the chances Deion actually wants to do this? Coaching isn't flashy, especially as an assistant. This isn't shucking and jiving into the end-zone, taunting a player on his way down the field, or hot-taking on the NFL Network. Coaching is like yard work, it's long, tiring, and you rarely get the credit you deserve. Does that sound like something Deion Sanders would enjoy for more than 5 minutes?
