Why Can't "Blue Bloods" Like USC, FSU, and Tennessee Keep Up?

So yesterday the story comes out that yet another blue blood big time college football program has become so impatient that they can't stand to look at the coach on their sideline for another single second. And USC made the hasty decision to fire Clay Helton after two games of the 2021 season.

This feels very Tennessee of them. This feels very Texas of them. This is what I’m warning FSU fans about.

But look- if you feel like you’ve got the next guy lined up…then by all means, go and get him.

Here’s my question- how is it that so many BIG TIME BLUE BLOOD programs can’t seem to get their act together? Or just win consistently.

All either under perform annually or just flat out suck annually. Do you have any theories as to why?

How is it that Texas A&M gets better recruits than Texas? How is it that UCF fields a better football team than FSU? It shouldn’t be possible.

The way you win in college football has become pretty simple, land as much NFL caliber talent as you possibly can. The teams that do that are typically the teams that are in the College Football Playoff year end in year out. That's the reason Alabama has the dynasty that they have because nobody does it better. Once you become an NFL factory you're made.

That pool is becoming increasingly condensed. But it still confuses me that the schools I’ve listed can’t seem to find themselves in the conversation at all year to year.
