It was a bad night for hockey fans of powerhouses the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Both teams were swept out of the playoffs and into the wrong side of history.
The Penguins got swept for only the fourth time in franchise history. For a team that is 52 years old, that's an incredible stat. The Islanders had some fun on Twitter because of the series win.
The Tampa Bay Lightning one up'd the Penguins, though. The Lightning became the first team to ever win the President's Trophy, which they won before any other teams made the playoffs, to then get swept in the first round. It's real bad. Bryan Sklover of the Hockey Now Network put it best when he wrote,
"However, the problem, for me, wasn’t the offensive production, the defensive meltdowns, the special teams failures…all of which WERE problems. The problem is the reaction to these events. Post-game press conferences tell EVERYTHING you need to know, and in this day and age, we can all watch them. This team was not angry. Intense. Pissed. Motivated. Annoyed."
That's why fans should be angry with the team, not just the fact that they put on the coasters during the regular season. For more from Bryan Sklover and the Hockey Now Network CLICK HERE.
