12-Team CFP Blowouts - Bad Year or Bad System?

The first round of the inaugural 12-team college football playoffs didn't quite live up to the hype and hoopla. The average margin of victory settled at 19.25, with the underdog stories such as Indiana and SMU falling to superior brands,

Things didn't get a ton better in the quarterfinals, with first-round bye team Oregon (1), Boise State (3), and Arizona State (4) all falling to the competition. (Sugar Bowl between Georgia (2) and Notre Dame (7) currently in action at time of publication).

As college football fans, what should we make of this? Does it prove that we need to change the system? Do we need to go back to a 4-team bracket?
