Ian Downgraded To Cat 3 Hurricane... Winds 115 MPH

(Tallahassee, FL) -- Hurricane Ian now is weakening to a Category Three storm. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 115 mph with higher gusts.

The National Hurricane Center reports Ian made landfall Wednesday in Florida as a Category Four hurricane and Governor Ron DeSantis called it one of the worst storms to ever hit the state.

On the forecast track, the center of Ian is expected to move across central Florida tonight and Thursday morning and emerge over the western Atlantic by late Thursday. Ian is forecast to turn northward on Friday and approach the northeastern Florida, Georgia and South Carolina coasts.
