Week 5: Last Minute Waivers Adds & the Top 20 QB Plays

QB Rankings:

1.Patrick Mahomes vs Buffalo

a.#1 until someone can show me otherwise.

2.Josh Allen @ KC

a.Should be a shootout between two of the best offenses in the league.

3.Kyler Murray vs SF

a.Tough matchup but we’re talking about QB1 on the season avg 30 fantasy points per game.

4.Tom Brady vs Miami

a.Even without Gronk, I expect a strong statistical bounce back from Tom. Can’t see him throwing for 0 TD’s 2 weeks in a row after throwing 9 the 3 weeks prior.

5.Dak Prescott vs NYG

a.This feels like a Dak blow up game. They’ve been more balanced on offense as of late but Dak still has 3 or more TD’s in 3 out of 4 games played.

6.Lamar Jackson vs Indy

a.Lamar has had one big game and 3 okay games, but the Colts are bad, this game is in primetime. This is a classic Lamar feast spot.

7.Aaron Rodgers @ Cincinnati

a.The 3rd highest over/under on the day. This game has shootout potential.

8.Joe Burrow vs GB

a.See #7.

9.Jalen Hurts @ Carolina

a.21 fantasy points in each outing this year and last week should’ve been even bigger vs KC, some TD’s called back. Carolina packs a punch defensively but they’re a little banged up. Hurts should go off again.

10.Justin Herbert vs Cleveland

a.Tough pass rush but I just believe in the talent of Herbert too much to rank him any lower than this.

11.Kirk Cousins vs Detroit

a.Every QB plays well vs Detroit. Don’t let a bad game vs CLE deter you. Cousins was 25 fantasy point per week prior to week 4.

12.Sam Darnold vs Philly

a.You mean Sam Vick?! The same rushing TD’s as Lamar and Kyler combined, go figure.

13.Daniel Jones @ Dallas

a.Week 4 he was QB1, I don’t expect that again, but he’s got legs and he’s got weapons. Great combo pack.

14.Trey Lance @ Arizona

a.Trey scored 24 fantasy points in a half of football, the ceiling is too high to ignore.

15.Derek Carr vs Chicago

a.Carr at home is a different QB.

Rounding out the top 20:

16.Trevor Lawrence vs Tennessee

17.Ryan Tannehill @ Jax

18.Justin Fields @ LV

19.Taylor Heinicke vs New Orleans

20.Matt Ryan vs Jets (in London)

Last-Minute Waivers:

QB- Trey Lance, Daniel Jones, or Jacoby Brissett- all dependent on league size as to who is available. But Trey Lance scored 22 fantasy points in a half of play last week, Daniel Jones threw for over 400 yards last week – finishing as QB1 on the week, and has really only had 1 bad game so far as a fantasy QB, and Jacoby Brissett can sling it deep – he’ll be facing the softest secondary in the league in TB.

RB- Khalil Herbert of the Chicago Bears could be a surprise start if Damien Williams can’t go due to his thigh issue. Herbert is a rookie out of VT – where he accounted for over 1k yards and 9 TD’s last year. The Raiders rank 26th against the run on the season.

WR- Kadarius Toney looks to get another start in the slot with Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard sidelined. NYG vs Dallas has one of the highest O/U’s of the day. Deeper leagues: Preston Williams, if Devante Parker is out, the Phins will need him to step up in the absence of Parker & Fuller. Also, Rashod Bateman is probably still out there – he could make his pro debut on Monday night. Not someone I want to play just yet, but he could be a popular pick up next week.

TE- CJ Uzomah, still seeing him out on the waiver wire all over the place. All this guy did was haul in 5 catches for 95 yards and 2 touchdowns last Thursday. Now he goes up against a Packers team with a banged up defense, who also ranks 26th vs the position. Deeper leagues: Ross Dwelley in for George Kittle.

DST- Cardinals have been one of the top DST’s, they face a rookie QB making his first start. Also, how about the Vikings? They are desperate for a win and they welcome the lowly Lions into town.
