Brandon Kravitz's MEGA-PREVIEW for College Football Week 5

Let’s take a look @ the biggest games inside and outside of the sunshine state. Some curious lines and news to follow along with this weekend:

Top headlines:

·Mike Norvell’s Noles look for their first win of the season, hosting Syracuse @ 3:30pm on the ACC Network. And Norvell is all fired up about where his program is…

oFSU enters this game a 4.5 point favorite. That’s tough to wrap your arms around.

oSyracuse has wins over Ohio, Albany, and Liberty. Sole loss is to Rutgers…so make of that what you will.

·Spencer Rattler has fallen on Mel’s big board!

oMel has him in the top 25 – but I think he was top 5 preseason. Mel points out and rightly so – Rattler has 3 touchdowns and 3 picks against FBS competition so far this year. That’s not going to earn you a 1st round pick.

oOU gets Kansas State on Saturday @ 3:30 – favored by 10.5.

·SMU/TCU got pretty heated last week

odays after SMU's 42-34 win over TCU in the 100th edition of the Battle for the Iron Skillet, the rivalry is hotter than it has been in years. SMU ran for 350 yards and didn't allow a sack against the Horned Frogs of coach Gary Patterson, one of the country's best defensive coaches.

oAfterward all manner of nonsense has broken loose:

oAfter the game, SMU receiver Rashee Rice tried to plant an SMU flag, A fracas followed, during which TCU assistant Jerry Kill fell and suffered a concussion, according to Coach Patterson....

oPatterson said: There’s a way to win and a way to lose…I imagine the next time these two meet, its going to be contentious again.

Upset alert: (for the record, had NC State last week in this segment and Baylor over Iowa State)

(7) Cincy @ (9) ND- Bearcats favored by 1.5 so this would be a pretty easy one. ND exploded in the 4th quarter against Wisconsin last week. Sorry UCF fans but this is the biggest game on Cincinnati’s schedule this week. Any hopes of making it to the CFB Playoff rides on this game.

(12) Ole Miss @ (1) Bama- Crimson Tide favored by 14.5. But we’ve seen over the years, the achilles heel of Nick Saban coached teams is that dynamic mobile QB. Lane Kiffin has been trolling Saban for years now, ass-chewings sideline rant-that rat poison stuff. Kiffin is no holds barred on social. You know he wants this one BAD. Ole Miss is 3-0, averaging 52ppg. Corrall and Bryce Young tied @ +175 in the Heisman odds.

Virginia @ Miami- That one tonight, Hurricanes favored by 5.5. I feel like any time they step on the field they are susceptible to get beat. Virginia’s 2-2 but they’re ok. Their QB Brennan Armstrong has been impressive. 13 scores, 3 picks. They just can’t run the football. But I’ll put Miami on upset alert.

**Keep an eye on Georgia/Arkansas @ noon. Great game. Georgia favored by 18.5. I don’t see them letting up.

In-State Focus:

#10 Florida heading to Kroger Field in Lexington Kentucky to play the Wildcats who are 4-0 and 2-0 in conference play. Here’s Dan Mullen talking about the matchup

History not really on Kentucky’s side:

Outside of a 2018 27-16 defeat, you have go back to 1986 for the only other time in the last 45 years that Big Blue was able to win.

6 o’clock start on ESPN.
