Avoid These Fantasy Football "Buy-Low" Candidates All Together

We're nearing Week 4 of the NFL season and the fantasy football landscape is just beginning to take shape. Patience must be demonstrated when it comes to some fantasy football mainstays that haven't got it going yet but there are certain players that you should proceed with caution with or even avoid all together (according to Brandon Kravitz.)

  • David Montgomery- After opening the 2021 fantasy football season with 18.8-points against a tough Rams defense, it’s been a tough few weeks for David Montgomery. Once Fields gets his sea legs under him, Montgomery should be just fine.
  • Corey Davis- Jets. Nuf said. Don’t come at me with Corey Davis in a trade.
  • Robert Woods- At some point defenses are going to smarten up and try and take away Cooper Kupp, if and when that happens, Woods will feast. He’s a perfect buy low.
  • Kyle Pitts- I can’t believe I’m about to say this but, the TE position is too deep at the moment to go fishing for Kyle Pitts. He’s used like a WR, he has all the usage metrics you want to see in a TE, but Matt Ryan’s just not delivering the ball to anyone with confidence. Ridley’s having a rough year too.
  • Jonathan Taylor- JT is averaging 57 rush yards per game. Puke. This is not what you signed up for. He got off to a slow start last year too, maybe that’s just who he is.
  • Julio Jones- I’m out. I was out on him when he wasn’t practicing before the season and now he’s back to the same old questionable tag Julio we’ve seen for years and years. Not interested.
  • Allen Robinson- A-Rob has not surpassed 35 receiving yards this season. This hurts but I just made this move myself in one of my leagues. This is probably your last opportunity to get him on the super cheap. Fields should bounce back and throw for more than 68 yards against the Lions.
  • Javonte Williams- This pains me to say because I was such a backer of Javonte heading into the season and such a Melvin denier. But the split is going more the way of Melvin each week and Gordon looks like he’s found the fountain of RB youth, so I am not all that interested in trading for Javonte unless he’s super cheap.
  • Brandon Aiyuk- HE LIVES! Aiyuk’s getting back into the good graces of Kyle Shanahan. He’s seen his total route run % increase week to week. 54% week 1, 56% week 2, and a whopping 90% week 3. And he scored a TD.
  • Justin Jefferson- “Jefferson is currently WR30 in PPR leagues, and, in terms of fantasy points, he is the third-best receiver on his own team. BUT he ranks 9th in the NFL in targets per game. He’ll get there. (via fantasypros.com)

In the "40 Minute Fantasy Zone" episode below, Brandon Kravitz speaks on these concepts and John McKechnie of Rotowire.com gives his analysis as well.
