Moses Moody Should Be A Priority For The Magic At 8

With the 8th pick, the Orlando Magic should zero in on the 6'6" guard out of Arkansas, Moses Moody. Not only does he have one of the best names in the draft, but he can really play. Moody averaged just under 17 points per game, shot the three at a 35.8% clip, and was 81% from the charity stripe (also 5.8 reb, 1.6 ast, 1.0 stl.) He had a rough NCAA Tournament from the three point line (3 for 17) but he made winning plays that led to three Arkansas tournament wins. Moody has not generated the amount of buzz that a one-and-done freshman with his talent should generate. Maybe it's because he's not a big dunker, or known for his athleticism.

Some people have compared Moses Moody to Khris Middleton (who is an inch or two taller) and after seeing what Middleton did this postseason, that would be quite the hot commodity. The comparison exists because Moody relies on skill over athleticism. Moody is capable of playing off the ball, catching and shooting, or putting it on the floor to get to his mid range. These are the exact traits that the Magic are in need of. A "3 and D" off guard, or wing, would be just what the doctor ordered for Orlando, and that is Moses Moody. He's also capable of playing solid defense with good lateral movement and has quick hands for steals. Moody also showed hustle and intangibles by grabbing 2 offensive rebounds per game at his position. He should be there at 8 unless Oklahoma City or the Golden State Warriors snatch him up.
