Happy in retirement, the Shot Doctor makes his presence felt for the first time since mid-January of 2020.
Truth be told, I've asked him, subtly, to come on a few times over the last year but Shot - being the man he is - never wanted to grandstand and have some big syrupy moment on the radio, where we talk about how iconic he is and share memories of the old times. That type of thing just isn't his style, plus, for a guy who gave his life to the business of sports talk radio and the radio industry, I think he was just ready for a break.
I called him out of the blue and asked if he'd join me on the 2-year anniversary show of In The Zone, a show he helped me launch back in 2019. He was hesitant at first but eventually agreed to do it. And I'm so glad he did. I know many of you miss Shot, many of you have wanted to hear his takes, hear his unique humor, and wanted a chance to bookend what was an incredible career. I hope this interview attached below gives you that feeling of nostalgia for our good friend, and one of my mentors, the Shot Doctor.
