Sunday Morning Week 1 Waiver Wire Finds

Waiver Wire Week 1:

Well hello there fantasy football freaks! I know what you’re thinking “it’s week 1, I don’t need the waiver wire”…wrong. You always need the waiver wire. Active owners make for great champions and we want winners! You might not be as desperate this week, but some of you might find this advice useful. Either way, believe me when I tell you, this segment/blog is going to become more and more valuable as the weeks go on.

QB:

Tyrod Taylor- If your in need of a QB or just hate your matchup in week 1 (Matt Stafford vs CHI without Kenny Golladay for instance) Taylor is the way to go. Tyrod is one of the best scrambling QB’s in the NFL, going up against a team that gave up monster yardage to QB’s on the ground last year. Between his WR’s, Hunter Henry, and Austin Ekler – Tyrod has plenty to help him feast against the 25th ranked defense in 2019.

RB:

James Robinson/Chris Thompson- PPR leagues make Thompson more appealing than Robinson but I prefer Robinson for the season long play. James Robinson will be listed as the starter and will likely get the goal line work. If you haven’t heard of him, don’t worry, no one has. Robinson was a star at Illinois State – where he rushed for over 4,000 yards and 44 TD’s. Thompson on the other-hand is a Jay Gruden (new OC for the Jags) “guy” from their time in D.C. Thompson finished with 7 catches and 68 yards receiving last year in week 1 with Jay Gruden as his HC.

WR: I’ll give you 3 to look @ here…

KJ Hamler- If Courtland Sutton can’t go and Hamler is healthy, he’s a big play waiting to happen and could see an uptick in opportunity with their #1 WR watching from the sidelines.

Brandon Aiyuk- Trust the 49ers. They had an opportunity to draft Jerry Jeudy and CeeDee Lamb but instead took a DT. Then, later in the first round, they draft this YAC monster out of ASU. Garoppolo has already called Aiyuk his “safety blanket” in camp.

Scotty Miller- With Mike Evans doubtful err questionable…whatever he is. Miller could see a real opportunity to shine. Hell, he might shine anyway, Brady loves him some slot guys.

TE:

I can not in good faith receommend a waiver wire TE this week. Maybe Dawson Knox from the Bills, don’t hold me to it.

DST:

Love the Colts DST going up against the Jags, if they’re available, grab ‘em. Looking ahead to next week, stash the Titans (home vs Jax week 2).

Under the Helmet is presented by the U.S. Army, take your skills to the next level!
