Charleston minor league baseball team cancels OJ Trial Night

I think minor league baseball will never die because of their outlandish theme nights. Bring your dog to the park day, bobble head night, everything is a dollar night, it's that kind of fun that keeps bringing people back to the ballpark. A Charleston minor league team had to cancel one of these nights, however, due to backlash.

OJ Trial Night.

Let that one sink in. Here's how it was described by the RiverDogs:

The trial of the century gets a juicy new spin. We will finally receive the verdict that everyone has been waiting for … pulp or no pulp?
Fans will act as our jury, voting with custom paddles to reach verdicts on various topics throughout the night. The eyes of the nation will be upon us. Fans will receive an “OJ Trial” shirt upon entering the stadium. If the shirt don’t fit, you must … see if we have a different size.

Obviously, this is in reference to the OJ Simpson trial where the world was glued to their TV sets wondering how one of their favorite athletes got himself into this mess.

Let's take a minute to look back at the case of OJ Simpson.

Is this the best theme night ever? No. But I would've gone. Just saying.
