Podcast: Did FSU make the wrong move by hiring Kendal Briles?

Backstory on Kendal Briles: He's son of former Baylor coach Art Briles, and recently agreed to a new three-year deal with Houston earlier this month. The Houston Chronicle reported the contract made Briles the highest-paid assistant coach at a non-Power 5 school. That was until FSU swooped in.

Here's the controversy: In a lawsuit filed against Baylor in 2017, Kendal Briles was accused of promising football recruits access to white women on campus. The university used what was described as a “show ’em a good time” approach with recruits, taking them to strip clubs and making young women in Baylor’s hostess program available for sex in addition to providing drugs and alcohol, according to a Sun Sentinel report on the lawsuit. So, why did FSU hire him? Well, I'll let the AD David Coburn tell you: “Kendal’s experience and background have been thoroughly vetted by the university, including substantive discussions with administrators at Baylor, FAU and Houston,”.

To me, this doesn't seem like a smart move for a guy in Willie Taggart who is coming off of a 5 win season, wouldn't now be a good time to ingratiate yourself to the FSU fan base? Not drive a bigger wedge between you and the Seminole faithful?
